CGHS covers childbirth at empanelled hospitals at fixed package rates. The rate depends on whether it is a normal (vaginal) delivery or a caesarean section.
CGHS Maternity Package Rates
- Normal (vaginal) delivery, Non-NABH — Rs 8,000
- Normal (vaginal) delivery, NABH — Rs 9,200
- Caesarean section (LSCS), Non-NABH — Rs 14,050
- Caesarean section (LSCS), NABH — Rs 16,158
- Forceps / assisted delivery, Non-NABH — Rs 9,200
Rates shown are as per the CGHS package rates (Office Memorandum dated 01.10.2014 schedule, Delhi/NCR list); CGHS notified a revised schedule effective October 2025 (2014 schedule, revised Oct 2025) and are subject to periodic revision. Always verify the latest approved rates on the official source.
How CGHS Package Rates Work
A CGHS package rate is all-inclusive of admission, surgeon and anaesthetist charges, operation theatre, nursing, routine investigations, medicines and accommodation for the standard length of stay. Rates for NABH-accredited hospitals are set about 15% higher than the non-NABH rate.
Figures here reflect the long-standing 2014 schedule. CGHS revised its rate schedule with effect from October 2025, so confirm the current figure for your CGHS city on the official portal before treatment.
Referral and Prior Permission
Planned major procedures need a referral from the CGHS wellness centre and prior permission. Emergency treatment at an empanelled hospital is reimbursed up to CGHS rates without prior permission.
