CGHS Cancer Treatment Rates: Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy

CGHS reimburses cancer treatment, but it is important to understand what the figures cover: chemotherapy rates are administration charges per sitting, while the cost of the anti-cancer drugs is reimbursed separately. Radiotherapy is billed by treatment level rather than by cancer site.

The Office Memorandum effective 13 October 2025 repriced chemotherapy, radiotherapy and investigations. It left cancer SURGERY rates unchanged, so an operation for cancer is still settled under the earlier notified rate.

CGHS Chemotherapy Administration Charges Per Sitting (effective 13 October 2025)

These are procedural (administration) charges only. Room rent, investigations and the anti-cancer medicines themselves are reimbursable in addition. Chemotherapy codes carry no separate super-speciality rate.

Radiotherapy is priced by treatment level, not by cancer site — the level depends on the machine, the planning technique and the number of fractions. Ask the hospital which level is written on your permission letter.

What Is Not Included

The chemotherapy figures are procedural (administration) charges per sitting. Room rent, investigations and the anti-cancer medicines themselves are reimbursable in addition — CGHS supplies the medicines where feasible, and where it cannot, the hospital supplies them and submits the purchase invoice.

Radiotherapy is priced by treatment level, not by cancer site. The level depends on the machine, the planning technique and the number of fractions, so ask the hospital which level is written on your permission letter. Cancer surgery is not on this page: the memorandum kept the existing rates for cancer operations.

How CGHS Package Rates Work

A CGHS package rate is all-inclusive of admission, surgeon and anaesthetist charges, operation theatre, nursing, routine investigations, medicines and accommodation for the standard stay. A non-NABH hospital is paid 15% below the NABH rate, and for the specialities the memorandum names, a super-speciality hospital is paid 15% above it.

The figures on this page come from the Office Memorandum effective 13 October 2025. The published rate is the semi-private ward figure: a general-ward entitlement is 5% lower and a private-ward entitlement 5% higher, and hospitals in Tier II and Tier III cities are paid 10% and 20% less than in Tier I.
